General talk about the Pistol offense

nomad, tell us the origin of the name "midget". Personally, I was under the impression before I looked at your website that it was a middle school/jr. high league, but in fact it is HS kids. Just curious. And by the way, you got some good things going on after viewing the video. I will get my guy who does our website to try and do some you-tube things- I have no clue how to do that.....

It is a community league that is ran for kids in HS that don't have HS teams. age group is 15-17 hoping to make the jump to 15-18 next year. Our Club caters to diferent levels from age 7-22 and. In canada we don't have junior high or middle school teams. So kids play at Minor Bantam and Bantam, our level is Midget and the next one up Is Major. Not sure if this is unique to manitoba. As far as the utube stuff can't help you there, but i'm sure if you ask our site administrator he would be more then happy to help

We are currently 5-0 and won the last game by a score of 60-7. We went with empty no huddle most of the game and used some flex bone triple option stuff (Called Navy) Ran our Rhino package inside the five. the team we beat was a fourth place team. We ran tons of vertial routes and Jailbreak screens

I like seeing all these success stories using the pistol set!

We lost our game last week. We were #2 in conference and were playing the #1 team. Final score was 21-12.

The team played a 35 defense and blitzed S-M-W all night. They were too fast on the edge for us to get outside. Too fast in the invert position for us to run bubble effectively. We became a sprint team that night...got some good things, but were unable to be consistent.

This week, we play a big, powerful...but slow team. We can go back to what we have always done...bubble, IZ, OZ, and veer.

Coach, we are also playing this Friday a very fast 3-5 front type team that sends S-M-W every down. They are physical and fast and probably the team to beat in the conference. From looking at film, I dont think we will have a lot of success running our stretch stuff and the rest of the permiter game. So to combat that I installed a "wham" play that attacks them right at the center of their pressure. How it works is we set up in doubles and then jet motion our backside slot, QB snaps just before the jet back gets to b.s. guards butt crack, we then take our p.s.g, c, and b.s.g and work the ng up to mike-essentially 3 on 2. We then tell our ps. tacklet to wash whatever comes inside b gap up to where our 3 interior OL are working. Meanwhile we have jet back "wham" the first EMLOS, the qb gives the ride to the back to either the 3 (left) or the 2 (right) hole and boots out. The play is essentially a long trap. we feel this will work because they play their 5 techs to come hard outside-he becomes the EMLOS and send S or W thru the B. Our thought process is that if the back can clear this he can get gone. To add further twist to it, we have front side slot running a bubble route and we will see how the front side invert plays him. If that invert comes down hard on the run, we will pull and throw the bubble, buch like our IZ stuff. But that is getting ahead of ourselves as we will ahve to wait and see how the Wham develops. If this works, I will be sure to post.....then again if it doesnt I will post anyway.......

How did the wham play workout? We struggled last week on our IZ play...had some success with OZ and power, but the IZ would not go. Wonder if the wham play would give us an element that our opponents had not seen on film. Most of our opponents are used to seeing ALL of our game film and not just the recent ones.

We won the game 21-7...because our defense is quite good. We only gained 289 yards of offense.

We are now 6-0 our last game score was 50-8. we have 2 more regular season games. We used nohuddle. our option game worked as a nice complement to our passing game. 85% of our plays were called in the no huddle. Our Rhino Package worked very well again. I even ran it for an entire series. was one heck of a change up. our screen game worked well ran 8 different screens. Shallow was huge for

Well I did promise to respond either way..........eeeesh we took it on the jaw 41-3. This was a case of the team was flat out biggger, faster, quicker, insert adj. here. As for the wham it was a solid play for us. We had a few nice medium sized runs. The problem was we were just simply overpowered. Now we will stay with the same concept as we face yet another 3-3 stack team but they are not as tough.

On a positve note we did a nice job using our wham guy as we made some nice kill shots. The problem is the push by our interior three could not get going.

That being said when you are limited to 94 total yards on the day, nothing much looks good. We did naila 44 yard FG though to get rid of the goose egg.

we are now 7-0 and have one more game left in the regular season. we have only scored less then 40 pts in one game and my qb has thrown for 30 td's.... we run the pistil but I have to say my airraid roots are still taking hold of me. we go alot of empty. But our veer Triple option is comming into fruition. So we have one more game to go and two playoff games. How is everyone else doing.

We are currently 3-4 with 2 games to go. Have to win last two to quailfy for stats playoffs. Last week we lost 65-30. Yes that score is correct. I am a victim-errr I should say my team is a victim of being a team that could not athletically compete and at the same time play agaisnt a classless coach. Say what you want but I have a real problem when you are up by 30+ and continue to keep your starters in and drill my kids. On the bright side we managed 30 points,, gained over 400 yards. Plays that worked: stretch, wham, and flood. In all reality we gave everything we had, just could not keep up and there is no reason for the opposing coach and his staff and players too continue to humiliate us.

We have just finished the seon 8-0 we beat the 3rd ranked team in our league by a score of 56-0...and guess what guys we ran for over 400 yards...yeah not the pass happy stuff i love but it was miserable weather and rainy. What worked for us was our navy option package. and Rhino I put in a few new plays in rhino. Jet Sweep and Tripe option as well as a PA pass off of the Jet Sweep. We also Ran a wicked screen as well. how is everyone else doing? we have our first Playoff game this comming saturday against the 4th place team tha we beat 60-8

i'm super busy with playoff's and all. After sunday I have championship week, and then we are wrapping up the season. After that any coaches who want any off my concepts and play packages, send me an email. I don't have a playbook per se I don't beleive that they do anygood but I have power points on all my formations plays and so forth. Just a quick post about navy, I line up in Pistol and have two wings/slots and we run veer/jet/shovel/dive/revese, and A few passes. The screen will have to wait but it is a compliment to rocket sweep and dive. anyway I'll try to post more when i have the time

We have won our semi final game and are now 9-0 we beat the fourth place team 58-0. I added a wrinkle that was an abvious fit to the Pistol. The Wild cat formation. I have ran this in years past but never with the success that I had this game 346 yards rushing for the game not all wild cat but a good chunk was.I used power "o" Blocking scheme for the Off tackle dive after the JeT sweep fake.

So as I write this we are 2 days away from the championship against our bitter rival. we beat them Twice this year by a total of 7 points combinedd but the weather conditions were attrocious. If we have clear skies we should be able to score a lot of points
